Special Days/Events

November 20, 2005 (Sunday) - Rite of Welcome - 9:00 a.m. Mass - St. Mary Church

Everyone in the RCIA program (those who are to be baptized and those to be confirmed) are to attend this Mass at St. Mary Church together with their sponsors. You are introduced to the parish and receive their special blessings and support.

December 6, 2005 (Tuesday) - Signs and Symbols - 7:30 p.m. - St. Mary Church

This session will take the place of our Monday session this week. The program being presented will cover the seasons of the liturgical year and explain the different colors, decorations and symbols that are seen during each season. The various rituals that take place will also be discussed.

March 4, 2006 (Saturday) - Call the Continuing Conversion - 11:00 a.m. - Cathedral

Those who are being confirmed and their sponsors are received by the Archbishop in a ceremony of prayer, blessing and support at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.

March 5, 2006 (Sunday) - Rite of Sending - 9:00 a.m. Mass - St. Mary Church

This ritual gives the blessing of the parish to those who went to the cathedral and to those who will go on this day (they are the ones to be baptized and they are called the "elect".) Sponsors must be present.

March 5, 2006 (Sunday) - Rite of Election - 2:00 p.m. - Cathedral

Those who are to be baptized are officially enrolled in the Book of the Elect and are accepted by the Archbishop. Sponsors must attend.

April 15, 2006 (Saturday) - Easter Vigil - 8:00 p.m. Mass - St. Mary Church

Those to be baptized receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

June 4, 2006 (Sunday) - Confirmation - 9:00 a.m. Mass - St. Mary Church
